The Howell Underground Running Team (H.U.R.T.) is a group of run-minded individuals that want to share their love of a good run. This group is great for people of all fitness levels, distance goals, and paces. Walk, run, and family fun; join us as we Run Howell!

Jackie: Affectionately referred to as “DSJ” (Drill Sergeant Jackie), Jackie is the epitome of determination and will ‘encourage’ you to run another hill repeat. She’s got a few notches on her half marathon belt now, assists with both organizing and leading group runs, and will help/push you to realize that your running goals are achievable.
Brian: Half marathoner with many years of running under his belt, Brian generally runs with the three milers leading, or sweeping where needed and plans to tackle his first marathon in 2015.
Russ: Another one of those “annoyingly fast” guys, Russ is an ultra marathoner (50 M), Boston qualifying marathoner, trail runner, age grouper, and is currently training for his first 100 M race. Yes, you read that correctly, 100 miles. Russ typically leads the five milers and will probably talk you in to joining him for a run through the woods.
Bob: Half marathoner and passionate runner, Bob leads or sweeps where needed and can be found at most local races chasing his next PR or cheering on the team.
Stephanie: Steph’s been running since the good ole days of high school track and cross country, and lists two marathons among her lengthy resume of running. Stephanie pours her passion for running in to her role as a run leader, leading and sweeping where needed, and hopes to one day coach cross country.
PJ: When not running, PJ can be found helping out with the Livingston area Special Olympics. PJ ran his first marathon in 2013 assisting a Special Olympic runner and it whet his appetite for running the longer distances, completing his second in 2014. PJ has been helping us sweep the 5 mile distance for as long as he has been a part of HURT and proudly heads up “Team Guilt Trip” and “Team Turtle.”
Lori: Lori joined HURT to keep up with her family and got suckered in to actually enjoying herself. After being convinced to and completing first half marathon in 2014, she is now being lead down the dark path of winter running and has already signed up for her second half in 2015!
Scott: Wrestling coach turned runner, Scott completed his first half marathon in 2014 and is counted among our ‘fasties’ on the team. Scott leads and sweeps where needed and will build you the coolest HURT stretch board you’ve ever seen!
Drew: A local firefighter and current holder of the “Run Thru Hell 5k in Full Gear” battle axe, when Drew isn’t putting out fires (literally) he can be found running around town, overseeing our Thursday Track nights, and aims to run his first marathon in 2015.
Neil: Neil has been running since he ran Cross Country in High School. He had heard about H.U.R.T. through several places and decided to try running with them in their first year. He has enjoyed the friendship of all the runners. Neil tends to run the 3 mile loop to lead the runners on the Monday group run. Neil ran his first half marathon with the help of other HURT runners.
Brenna: Still somewhat new to the running community, Brenna runs to destress from life with 4 young children at home. Don’t bother to ask her before a run how far she’s going, she never knows, so she’ll probably just run whatever distance you’re up for! She’s a fan of the half marathon and terrible weather conditions (but the colder the better).
