In 2014 we began tutoring four students in a borrowed room, with a rule we still keep: never move forward until the student can explain the last thing back to you. It is slower in week one and considerably faster by week six.
Everything since has been built around that. The free assessment exists to find the real gap. The written session notes exist so nobody has to guess whether it is working. The willingness to change tutors exists because the relationship matters as much as the subject knowledge.

These are the reasons we occasionally talk a family out of booking with us.
The first session is always about finding the actual gap. Teaching the wrong thing well is still teaching the wrong thing.
If a student is not progressing, the tutor tells you. We would rather have an uncomfortable conversation in week three than a wasted term.
Nobody can promise a grade, and anyone who does is selling something else. We can promise preparation, honesty and a plan.
Continuity does most of the work. A student who has to re-explain themselves every week never builds momentum.

A student who stops dreading the subject has moved further than one who gained two marks and still hates it.
