Eighty-Five Tutors, And

Only One Of Them Is Yours

You are not booking a pool of interchangeable people. Once a student is matched, they keep the same tutor week after week, because half of what makes tutoring work is a person who remembers what happened last Tuesday.

We do not publish individual profiles here. Tutors are matched after the free assessment, when we know the subject, the level and the personality involved, and you meet yours before committing to anything.

Vetting

Every Tutor Passes The Same

Four Checks Before Teaching

No exceptions, including for tutors who come recommended by families we already work with.

Qualification Check

A degree or recognised qualification in the subject they teach, verified from the original document rather than a claim on a CV.

Background Check

A current enhanced background check, renewed on schedule. Nobody sits with a student before it has come back clear.

Two References

Two references taken up and spoken to, at least one from a previous teaching or tutoring role.

A Trial Lesson

A live teaching trial with a member of our team playing a student who does not understand. Plenty of well-qualified people do not pass this one.

Our Team

The Shape Of The Team

By Subject And Experience

22 tutors

Mathematics

From primary numeracy specialists to former secondary heads of department. Nine of them also cover admissions and entrance papers.

17 tutors

Sciences

Biology, chemistry and physics specialists, most with laboratory or teaching backgrounds and current knowledge of the practical requirements.

19 tutors

English & Humanities

English, history and geography, including several examiners who mark the papers our students sit.

11 tutors

Languages

Native and near-native speakers who also know the exam specification, which is a rarer combination than it sounds.

9 tutors

Test Preparation

Dedicated to SAT, ACT and admissions papers. They do nothing else, which is why their pacing advice is worth having.

7 tutors

Learning Support

Study skills, organisation and confidence work, often alongside a subject tutor rather than instead of one.

How A Student Gets

Matched To A Tutor

Subject and level are the easy part. The harder question is whether the two of them will get on, and we would rather admit a bad match early than let it drift for a term.
